Marissa del Mar, former beauty queen and actress turned businesswoman, socio-civic leader and television host of Buhay OFW represented the Philippines as the country’s delegate in the recently concluded 2nd Eurasian Woman’s Forum held at St. Pertersburg in Russia from September 19 – 21, 2018. Del Mar was invited to attend the forum as the country’s representative by the Deputy Chair of the Organizing Committee, Galina Karelova, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Del Mar along with more than 6,000 participants who are members of parliament, representatives of the executive authorities, international organizations, business circles, scientific community, public institutions and charity projects, as well as prominent leaders of the international feminist movement from 110 countries attended the forum.
The guest speaker in the said forum was no less than Russian President Vladimir Putin who made a pronouncement that “free state qualification will be launched in Russian next year,” where mothers with children under three (3) years old can go on maternity leave. He also mentioned that there are almost 100% kindergarten places all over Russia and many more shall be constructed so that women can return as quickly as possible to their work.
The Forum’s theme is ‘Women for Global Security and Sustainable Development’. “Given the new realities, the topic addresses the growing demand for greater involvement of women in tackling urgent problems and also for the search for effective responses to the challenges of today, women’s comprehensive participation in the socially oriented sustainable development. The Forum focused on the problems of expanding women’s opportunities and their role in politics and economics, as well as building effective cooperation in supporting innovations, developing the digital economy, ensuring environmental security and promoting charity and humanitarian projects. The Forum is designed to enhance the processes of dialogue, integration and development of international cooperation as a whole.”
Marissa del Mar is presently the Vice-Chair of Women Empowerment Committee of the Management Association of the Philippines. She is the Vice-President for SME/OFW of the Philipine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.; Chairwoman of the Anti Trafficking OFW Movement (ATOM); Chairwoman of the National Real Estate Association;Public Image/TV Brand of Rotary International, District 3830, Philippines; Board of Trustees of Volunteer Against Crime and Corruption; and, Chairwoman of Buhay OFW Foundation, Incorporation.
Marissa Del Mar is seen regularly hosting Buhay OFW every Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:00 in the evening at AKSYON TV being broadcasted at UHF Channels 41 and 29, Sky Cable Channels 59, 61, Destiny Cable Channel 7, 5, and Cignal TV Channel 1. It is also being telecast at AKSYON TV International being aired in 10 countries worldwide.
